Everything is optical

Remember that our network services are "all optical". We cannot tell what you are sending through our fibres. Optical signals cannot be intercepted and interpreted in the same way as electrical signals. Remember too that our networks do not "mix up" your traffic with traffic from other companies. Your network service from Vtesse is dedicated to you.

It is not connected to the internet or any other publicly available service, keeping amateur (and professional) hackers well at bay. It is dedicated to you. Your service will be as secure as it can reasonably be.

Overkill?

We don’t think so.

Security

Vtesse Networks understand the absolute importance of the services we provide. We also understand the need to preserve both the integrity and the security of the data that our services carry on your behalf. We take extraordinary care to minimise the chances of this critical asset being compromised. Here are just a few of the ways that we protect your most valuable asset.

Fibre routes

We minimise (usually to zero) the number of places on your dedicated fibre route where intrusion might occur by splicing fibres in underground chambers rather than presenting them at Optical Handover Frames in public collocation facilities or exchange buildings. We think that if you reduce the opportunity for third parties to intercept your fibres, we will reduce the risk too. The equipment that we use can be configured so that it is critically sensitive to the dispersion of light through the fibres. In the unlikely event that a third party did find a place where they could "sniff" our signals, we would see an alarm raised in our Network Operations Centre.

Physical equipment

Our network equipment (which will usually be installed in your premises) is housed in locked cabinets. The only way that the cabinets can be unlocked is via a signal sent from our network operations centre. That way we know who is doing what. If the doors are forced open, an alarm is sent to our NOC. Quite often, there will be many unused "slots" in the equipment that might offer someone the opportunity to insert their own cards. Except we disable them all so they can only be "unlocked" by signals from the NOC. Similarly, we disable any unused ports on existing cards.

What our clients say...

“The payback on the Vtesse service has been under 18 months, due to the savings we have made from the simplicity of operation and reliability.”
