Vtesse Service Coverage
ETHER/IP and ETHER/LIGHT service coverage
ETHER/IP, Vtesse's IP VPN service and ETHER/LIGHT, our Wide Area Ethernet service, are both hosted on Vtesse's National Fibre Network. Both services share more than 100 Vtesse Points of Presence, located in key towns and cities across the UK. From these points of presence high bandwidth LAN Extension services are provided on fibre optic links up to 35Km from each PoP. (Longer distances are served using Private Circuit connections). All major business conurbations in the UK are covered. Sites requiring lower levels of bandwidth are usually served by Digital Subscriber Line technologies, the coverage for which is continually growing. The more modern DSL services, ADSL2+ (1.5Mbit upstream and up to 24Mbit downstream) and EFM (Ethernet First Mile - between 2 and 40Mbit symmetric) are forecast to obtain National coverage for Medium and Large businesses by the end of 2010. Private optical network coverage
The Vtesse approach to building private optical networks for customers is unique. We act as fibre optic network owners and aggregators, searching out available fibres on the most appropriate routes from the tens of thousands of route kilometres and many asset owners we have in our knowledgebase. We have direct access to possibly the largest pool of available dark fibre in the UK, ensuring we are able to offer best fit and best value for your needs. The routes we use may also include our own national network routes which span more than 9,000 route kilometres and pass through every major town and city on the UK mainland. It provides exceptionally cost effective transit on longer distance routes. We also have established relationships with several providers of international optical capacity, enabling us to deliver multi-gigabit levels of performance from UK data centres to customer sites overseas.
In this way, you get the shortest routes, demonstrable diversity and the best possible value for your needs. And because we manage the network end to end, we are able to provide the very highest levels of service availability, including 99.999% guarantees.
Where available routes do not reach customer's premises, or where fibre segments do not quite meet, we use our own civil engineering teams to dig the final mile connections.
