Vtesse in the Private Sector

It has given us an infrastructure upon which new network technologies can be deployed that now allows us to cost effectively share unlimited capacity between multiple customers without compromising security, performance or availability. By sharing it, whilst retaining the original concept of giving customers affordable, ultra-reliable LAN like performance between their offices, we can now help both medium and large sized businesses reap the huge benefits that the Vtesse approach to networking can bring.

We have used our Optical Networking expertise to build two new "layers" on our National Fibre Network. The first is an Ethernet service called "ETHER/LIGHT". The second is an IP VPN service we call "ETHER/IP" . ETHER/LIGHT focuses on performance, simplicity and value for connecting IT resources in fixed locations. ETHER/IP provides a higher level of service, providing a platform for converged application delivery direct to end users, anywhere, anytime. Each offers affordable, ultra reliable, LAN like performance. Each is based upon state of the art technology (which implies a long service life and lowest possible costs) and each carries the pedigree and security you would expect from a supplier of critical networking infrastructure to many of the world's largest businesses. Which you choose will depend upon your vision for internal IT architecture. Click here for more information on ETHER/LIGHT and here for more information on ETHER/IP.

Our goal for each service is to give you the same degree of flexibility to respond to change, opportunity and challenge that Private Optical Networks bring to those with more demanding IT infrastructures.

Co-location

An affordable, ultra-reliable, high performance network between locations makes consolidation of server resources a practical proposition for medium sized businesses. But where will all of those servers physically go? Is the communications infrastructure there fit for purpose? Will you have enough power? Will there be enough cooling? Will you compromise environmental goals? Do you have enough CAPEX to manage the upgrades? Is spending large amounts of capital on in-house IT the best way for your business to get a return? If the answer to any of these questions is "no" then co-locating your servers in a Vtesse Data Centre may be the way to go. Which is why, to complement our ETHER/IP and ETHER/LIGHT services, we offer VTESSE/LOCATE co-location services. VTESSE/LOCATE services are delivered from our 30,000 sq. ft. data centre in Hertfordshire - connected directly onto our National Fibre Network. Click here for more information on VTESSE/LOCATE

Services from Data Centre to Doorstep

Vtesse managed services can provide a complete infrastructure for delivery of your IT applications. By co-locating your servers in a Vtesse data centre, which in turn is connected to Vtesse's National Fibre Network, offering Private Optical Network connectivity, (ETHER/LIGHT Ethernet services and ETHER/IP VPN services, Vtesse provide a service delivery foundation from data centre to desktop. Vtesse help you to remain in complete control of your most vital assets. Your data and business applications.

Connecting the Enterprise

Most larger organisations are geographically distributed. Whether it is to accommodate sheer numbers, or to put people closer to customers or to put assets closer to infrastructure or to deal with organic growth and acquisition, bigger companies do tend to end up in lots of different places.

It doesn't make businesses easier to run. The more locations there are, the harder it becomes and the more reliance is placed upon data networks to synchronise teams and deliver customer value.

Dealing with the past

In the past, high costs have constrained the performance of data networks between sites. Customer LANs ran at megabits and gigabits per second but WANs between offices ran at tiny fractions of that speed. People needing access to central server resources from remote offices became second class citizens to their peers at head office. Putting smaller servers next to the workers in the remote locations was a popular solution. At least then the performance issue could be fixed. But it led to all sorts of secondary issues - out of sync data, increasing maintenance and support costs, badly executed back-ups, unreliable service delivery, asset management difficulties, increased down time. Distributing resources fixed some problems but created myriad others.

Evolution played a part too. New applications called for new servers. New services called for better network connections. Over time, network connections became increasingly complex. The fixed relationship between people, complex IT assets and distributed properties that traditional network services infer did little to improve the ability of the organisation to transform. Networks became a barrier to agility rather than an aid.

None of this would have happened, of course, had customers been given access to affordable, reliable, unlimited capacity inter-site data networks from day one.

But they didn't exist.

Solving the problem for some

Building inter site networks that allow businesses to respond and transform is what Vtesse set out to achieve when the company was founded in 2000. Our ambition was to virtually "collapse geography" by using ultra high performance private fibre optic networks between key sites. These networks have unlimited capacity, extreme reliability and are capable of carrying absolutely any kind of data or communications traffic.

With that freedom, people can work at any site and enjoy the same performance. IT resources can be moved between sites without affecting service. New sites and data centres could be added or relocated with the same levels of freedom. New services can be implemented quickly and without concern for impact on existing applications.

Vtesse build Private Optical Networking services that connect data centres to data centres and data centres to regional administrative centres. We build them with unlimited capacity, 99.999% network availability, national coverage and support for every data processing and communications technology available. The approach works well. It aids acquisition, integration, consolidation, internal change and mobility. It facilitates outsourcing and re-integration. It is a positive aid to the inevitable. Change. Extending the appeal

Private optical networking provides a model for functionality that we have been seeking to replicate for businesses of all sizes.

Since 2000, we have built a lot of private optical networks for a lot of very demanding organisations. It has enabled us to create one of the largest National Fibre Optic networks in the country.

What our clients say...

“Vtesse Networks has the highest reliability of any of the organisation we use.”
