Conference and meeting rooms can be configured on site as may office space for up to 100 staff. Desks in this area will all be equipped with mains power, telephone points and LAN cabling. Wired or wireless internet connectivity will be available for visiting staff on request.
There is secured on-site parking for up to 70 vehicles.
Services
Remote hands services will be available on-site 24*7*365 for equipment and rack installation and de-commissioning and also for equipment moves, changes and adds. Lockable storage cabinets and cages will be available on-site for customer spares and other equipment.
Security
The site is secure. It will be permanently manned and is protected externally by steel and wire fences and has a vehicle access control barrier. CCTV monitoring and recording facilities cover perimeter areas. Customer's cars, service and delivery vehicles may be parked within the secure compound.
Access security will be maintained throughout the building by use of a zoned access system and there are mantraps to each of the 4 main computer halls.
The site security post will be manned 24*7*365 and the premises are regularly patrolled. Visitors are escorted at all times. Access to the facility is by appointment only.
Fire Prevention
Very Early Smoke Detection Alarms (VESDA) are to be fitted throughout the building and linked to security & fire station systems. Fire suppression equipment will be deployed in zones and is designed to be intelligently discharged in the event of an incident. Incident management procedures are regularly reviewed with fire prevention officers.
Private Data Centre Halls
5,000 - 15,000 sq ft
A single storey 30,000 square feet data centre within synchronous replication distance of Central London, the Vtesse Hoddesdon data centre is being re-developed for sole or multi-tenanted occupancy. The data centre is suitable for customer server, storage, data backup and networking equipment requiring Tier 1, 2 or 3 M&E infrastructure. The site will enjoy diverse 5MVA power feeds initially, upgradeable to 11MVA).
Private Data Halls
The site has been prepared to provide four new individually secured computer halls within the main building, in addition to the 2,500sq ft hall currently in service. Each hall provides 5,000 square feet of technical space and may be configured to support up to 250 standard 46u equipment racks. Halls may be individually configured to customer specification with communal or dedicated power, cooling and fire suppression infrastructure.
Halls may be built to any Tier specification or may be configured to support mixed Tier operation. Similarly, Halls may be configured for low, medium or high density equipment configurations or for any combination thereof.
Communications
Diverse communications connectivity is available. The Hoddesdon facility is a core node on the Vtesse private national optical network giving high bandwidth connectivity to all leading UK telehotels as well as to Vtesse's 100+ UK points of presence.
For synchronous replication requirements, Vtesse provide guaranteed latency diversely connected services with any combination of Fibre Channel, Escon, Ficon Sysplex and Gigabit Ethernet service.
Power and Cooling
On-site generators will provide failover for National Grid power and are rated to match the available power to the site. Generators will be configured to provide n+1 redundancy, and are designed for continuous operation. Internally, all power distribution, Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS), Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), fire suppression and building management systems will be configured to provide n+1 redundancy.
UPS systems protect against power failure and provide continuous supply to IT loads until generators take over.
All Mechanical and Electrical service facilities are designed to be concurrently maintainable.
The facility is sized to provide an average power feed of up to 8KW to each rack. High density rack power requirements of up to 30KW per rack may be accommodated in nominated zones within these halls.
Energy efficiency has driven the new design and it is expected that site will achieve an average (Green Grid) Power Utilisation Efficiency (PUE) rating of 1.4
Further Accommodation
An additional 5,000 sq. ft. of flexible accommodation within the building may be custom configured to provide private suites, office accommodation, disaster recovery accommodation, lab space, stores and/or comms rooms to meet individual customer needs.
